Stray Cats are an American rockabilly trio formed in 1979 in Massapequa, New York. Fronted by guitarist and vocalist Brian Setzer, the band helped revive interest in 1950s rockabilly with their energetic blend of rock and roll, country, and punk influences. They achieved success in the early 1980s with hits like ‘Stray Cat Strut’, ‘Rock This Town’ and ‘(She’s) Sexy + 17’, which showcased Setzer’s virtuosic guitar work and catchy upright bass-driven rhythms. The band’s retro style, nostalgic lyrics and infectious riffs make their songs particularly fun to adapt to the ukulele.
